I practice photography since other 40 years. My favourite activity goes from black and white snapshots to landscapes in colour. My main subject area is located in the west of the USA where I travelled more than 30 times. I always have been attracted by North America, may be due to the SHAPE military camp, close to my home in the fifties, and the US people parading in their big US cars, but certainly because of the cinema and the Western in Kinescope, where the great landscapes of the West started to fascinate me. When I take interest to photography, I naturally had a look on what was done over there. And I discovered Robert Frank, Lee Freedlander, Walker Evans and specially Ansel Adams, and his black and white photographs taken in the US National Parks. I had to wait until I was close to 40 to finally put my first foot on this mythic country. Now I recouped myself, with about 30 trips over the Atlantic, from New York to Miami, from Chicago to L.A. by the Route 66, from the large cities of the East Coast to some small villages in the Arizona, from the noisy Times Square to the silent Bryce Canyon. My need of America increases trip after trip. |
